Jennifer graduated as a Nutritional Therapist from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2009. Since moving from Glasgow to her home village of Torphichen, she has established a Nutritional Therapy consultancy based in West Lothian.
Like most Nutritional Therapists, I became interested in nutrition as a solution to my own health problems. I had suffered with eczema all my life and chronic sinusitis since my teens. I had come to accept my almost daily headaches and general fatigue as part and parcel of my life and my purple nails and habitual jumper wearing was attributed to the fact that I was someone who 'felt the cold'. Yet, I still considered myself to be 'fit & healthy'. I also considered my diet to be good as I ate a low fat/low calorie diet in a bid to fend off the fat (the success of this approach was evidenced by my fluctuating weight!).
After a post Christmas 'detox' (see previous comment re weight!), I began to notice some connections between what I was eating and how I felt and started to research Nutritional Therapy. I was quite surprised at the correlation between my symptoms and the common foods that can aggravate them (almost all of which were a staple of my normal diet) and noted with interest that I consumed very little of the foods that have been shown to help with my health problems.
I began to adopt a 'whole food' diet (eating as close to nature as possible, no processed/refined foods or additives), cut out the offending foods and introduced more helpful alternatives... and haven't looked back since. My headaches disappeared rapidly and my skin gradually began to improve, but the biggest improvement I felt was in my energy levels: I no longer felt as if I could do with a nap at just about any given time of the day. A real connection was made when I found myself singing (and, I must admit, chair dancing) along to the radio on my way to work- a first for someone who was 'not a morning person'!
My experience led me to the conclusion that most of us are unaware of just how good we can feel as we've become so used to functioning at a sub-optimum level. I was so hooked on the realisation that something as simple as what we do/don't eat could impact so dramatically on how we feel that I decided to further my knowledge by studying Nutritional Therapy.
I studied Nutritional Therapy with the College of Naturopathic Medicine, which included 1 year of Anatomy/Physiology and 2 years of Naturopathic Nutrition and Clinical Practice. My qualification brought with it a greater understanding of all the factors implicated in ill health and the Naturopathic principles of addressing them.

In 2019 I achieved a long held dream of qualifying as a yoga teacher and am delighted to now be able to combine my two passions to help people achieve the health and vitality they deserve.
I look forward to helping you on your journey to renewed health and wellbeing!
